Incarcerated dancehall star Vybz Kartel has penned a opened letter to the Jamaican police force addressing his distaste on the way they are handling his case.

In the letter sent to Urban Islandz by the deejays reps, Vybz Kartel opens up about the conspiracy by Jamaican Law Enforcement officials to keep him locked behind bars.

This is what Vybz Kartel says:

In 2011, I was charged for murder by way of astatement which indicated that I had ordered Lenburgh McDonald to murder Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton. Weeks later, said witness gave a statement to the Public Defender saying that he was physically assaulted and threatened by the police to say that I was involved in ‘Bossie’ Burton’s death. Days later, he gave anotherstatement to the Public Defender saying that since he recanted the first statement, he has been getting death threats via calls to his phone.”

“Days after my first murder charge, I was charged with another murder (Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams). In this case, the police (by way of a Senior Superintendent who waslater charged with “attempting to pervert the course of justice” in a separate incident) campaigned every Monday morning on a certain TV station claiming they had DNA evidence, which came back 7 months later as negative. They also led the public to believe that they had video tape of me and my co-accused murderingWilliams. I would like to add that the police made a lot of damaging remarks against me. A most notable one would be “since his arrest, the community is a safer place.”

Vybz Kartel has been incarcerated since September of 2011 on two murder charges, as well as, conspiracy and gun charge.

Benzly Hype of The Innocent Crew is looking to start season three of his local sitcom, Me and Mi Kru, in early April.
According to the artiste/producer/actor, the local economic climate caused him to push back the airing of the show.
However, for this season, Benzly Hype has collaborated with writers like Richie Drenz and Lisa Alveranga. He says the show will showcase nothing less than authentic Jamaican talent and culture.
"We wanted to go on air earlier, but because the economy is in a bad state and with the IMF deal, so basically sponsors have their hands tied, so I am working with them. I think this whole financial thing is hampering the amount of shows produced in Jamaica, but the show is going to continue," he said.
He added, "This season, we are going to be telling more about my life and the sound system days, along with characters associated with the '90s, the show is kinda documenting that period."

This season of 'Me and Mi Kru' will also feature appearances from recording artiste Tanya Stephens, actor/artiste Spragga Benz and artiste Gappy Ranks. These artistes are also featured on Hype's latest dancehall rhythm the Iron Dog.
The show will be aired on TVJ on Fridays at 9:30 p.m., following Entertainment Report.
Hype is looking to reach at least two million viewers locally with the new TVJ partnership. Adding to that aim, 'Me and Mi Kru' is currently aired in Africa, the United States, Canada and Spain.
"We are definitely going places with the show, and we have more deals on the table. Right now, I am working with my partners in Japan to get it over there in the future," he said.
Among other plans, Benzly Hype is going to release a Me and Mi Kru album, which will feature veteran members of the Innocent Crew.
"The people are asking for new music from us so we are going to deliver that to them ... . We have a sequel to 'Me and Mi Kru' like a mini movie, which will feature me and Audrey Reid, calledHype's Party Weekend, so fans can look out for that as well," Benzley Hype said.

Squeeze had a lawyer send me what in the legal world is basically referred to as a “cease and desist order’. This order is based on what they deem to be contractual obligations that prevent me from saying certain things.

Basically they do not want me to say anything bad about him or his company or the products associated with the company. So, for example, were I to say anything about the actual price of Biolife products, Squeeze would sue me, on the basis that I breached the terms of the contract.

In short, Squeeze wants to shut me up.

Usually in these cases it’s really not what you say, but HOW you say it.

Additionally, it is generally strategically wise to assume that circumstances such as those that presently obtain are precursors to an actual lawsuit. Consequently, I have initiated contingencies to protect myself legally and otherwise. My lawyer is presently examining the dynamics of the present impasse, and I stand ready to implement specific defenses should Squeeze make certain moves.

Additionally…know this…there are certain issues on which Squeeze simply has no legal basis to prevent my commentary.

I wouldn’t be able to do any shows or events with my name. All recordings of shows with references of my name could not be sold by me. I wouldn’t be able to do anything as Ragashanti in the future. I would have been totally stripped of my entertainment identity. Ragashanti wouldn’t be able to make money as Ragashanti.

I would like you all to know – and don’t worry, I’m legally able to say this – that at the time in November when Squeeze applied to the Unites States Patent and Trademark Office for full control of my name, we were laughing and talking with each other daily. In fact, as you all know and have heard, Squeeze was repeatedly on air telling people how much he respected me. The calculated duplicity is obvious. Di man di a program di ting wicked!

However, the result of this is shock and disgust in the Caribbean community. People are simply stunned in disbelief! This revelation has also lead to a swirl of questions from all corners of the Caribbean community. I will not at this time address the questions, I am waiting for him to first make certain moves, after which a process will evolve that will answer the questions.

In the meantime, know that I’m okay…and that I still won’t take sh-t from those who would seek to compromise me. I will continue to update you as the events unfold…at specific junctures when it becomes okay and necessary to make certain utterances.

Raymond Kirlew, Yvonne Kirlew of Discovery Bay, St Ann, and Florida radio host Dr Dennis Grant, hold leaves and a soursop from the soursop tree behind them. 


ON THE verge of death Yvonne Kirlew was, nearly a decade ago. The chemotherapy to destroy her lymphatic cancer was apparently killing her too. But her husband, Raymond, was determined that she wasn't going to leave him. He nursed her through a dreadful time of pain and near-death moments, and the cancer went into remission.

But, alas, it came back. And Raymond's war on the cancer started all over again, and this time around he went to nature for help. He acted upon the information that the leaves, stem and bark of the soursop tree, found all over Jamaica, were more powerful and less debilitating than chemotherapy. Daily, he has been feeding Yvonne the drink extracted from the leaves and the bark of the soursop tree, and Yvonne has been cancer-free since January 2010.

Yvonne and Raymond Kirlew's story is well documented by this newspaper. The reaction to the articles was overwhelming. Readers from all over the world called or emailed seeking further information and to get in touch with the Kirlews. The last article was published in The Gleaner on Saturday, August 20, last year, but the fascination with their story cannot seem to die.

But the information on the healing properties of the soursop tree has long been in the public domain. It was sent to south Florida radio host, the Reverend Dr Dennis G. Grant, about five years ago, and he posted it on his home office wall. Dr Grant is the host of a very popular two-hour Saturday show called 'The Love Hour' on WAVS 1170.

In April, the native of St Mary, Jamaica, who has about 35 fruit trees in his yard in Florida, also began to boil the leaves from his own tree. "I started to take it (the drink) myself, figured it was working. My high blood pressure, my cholesterol are now normal without medication," he told The Gleaner.

Then someone sent him the August 20 article. "And when I looked at the article I saw your name - and that's when I picked up the phone and called you," he told this writer, whom he had met earlier this year at an event called 'Kingston Pon Di River', "and I started to do my own research, my own investigation, and I told my radio listeners about it."

Subsequently, Dr Grant began bottling the drink extracted from his own leaves. "On a Saturday, after my radio program or during my radio program, we don't have hands to get rid of it," he said, "and now we are getting testimonies: My insurance agent, diagnosed with gall bladder problems and prostate cancer, he's now totally, totally healed by drinking the soursop. So it has been working miracles. We have numerous, numerous testimonies."

Yet, there are skeptics. "A lot of people have read your article. I have emailed it to thousands of people. A lot of them don't believe that this is really factual. As a radio host, I wanted to come and meet the Kirlews myself," Dr Grant said. So, to remove some of the doubts, Dr Grant flew in from Florida last weekend to visit the Kirlews at their home at Dairy, Discovery Bay, St Ann.

But unbeknown to Dr Grant, the big soursop tree that seems to be sustaining Yvonne and keeping the Kirlews happy was blown over by Hurricane Sandy. Some of the roots are still firmly embedded in the ground, and the leaves are still fresh and green. It will be propped up soon by Raymond. Just as it was with Yvonne, death is not an option.

After a warm reception by the Kirlews, they gave Dr Grant a synopsis of their story, and some of the soursop portion from the fridge, which they drank on the spot. Then, it was time for Raymond, always the enthusiastic storyteller, to give anecdotes of people whose cancer was cured by the soursop tree, and those who chose chemotherapy over the soursop, and had since made the transition.

At 10 o' clock, via telephone, Raymond and Yvonne were interviewed live on Dr Grant's radio show. With the fallen soursop tree as the backdrop, Yvonne, Raymond and Dr Grant spoke for about 10 minutes. At one stage, a smiling Yvonne Kirlew exclaimed, "I feel great!" to which Dr Grant replied, "And you're looking wonderful! If they could just see how wonderful and healthy you look."

After the live interview, Dr Grant told The Gleaner, "I can go back and now say, I have met them, I have seen them. They have told me how it's done, what it has done. They have the medical records right there in the home. I am a believer. I now believe even more that this soursop cured Mrs Kirlew, and it is a miracle drug. If my visit saved one life - this visit from Florida to Discovery Bay, Jamaica - just one life, it would have been worth it.".

1. Grapefruit

A grapefruit a day will help to keep free radicals at bay. Grapefruit is nutritionally dense and filled with vitamins and minerals that will help your body function efficiently. It also helps with the repair of body tissues and cells that have been damaged by years of poor eating. Grapefruit is also full of fibre, which will help to remove solid waste from your colon and keep you full, so you eat less.

2. Garlic

This herb has many uses and one of them is that it helps to remove toxins from the body that can cause chronic diseases. Garlic also has many antibiotic properties and the sulphuric compounds it possesses makes it an essential detoxifier. You can either chew the garlic raw or squeeze raw cloves on freshly prepared foods.

3. Fruits

A juice fast is a great way to detoxify the body. This is because fresh fruits help to address excess organic toxicity while at the same time providing the body with a lot of energy. Fruits also provide fibre which is necessary to assist with the removal of excretion from the colon. Citrus fruits such as oranges, for example, are great for detoxification because they enhance waste removal.

4. Cayenne pepper

Cayenne pepper is often one of the major ingredients in concoctions geared towards weight loss. The master cleanse diet, for example, is one such diet that promises instant and drastic weight loss. Cayenne pepper, it is said, helps to improve circulation, eliminate waste and rebuilds stomach tissue.

5. Green, leafy vegetables

Omega-3 fatty acids are derived from fish because the body is not able to produce enough of it on its own. A deficiency of this important nutrient contributes to obesity and skin problems, among other things.

7. Limes

Although citrus on a whole is good for detoxification because of the alkalising ability and the high levels of calcium and vitamin A, Grant suggests that those detoxifying should squeeze a half a lime in a cup of water and drink first thing on rising to help kick start the detoxification process.

8. Nuts and legumes

Nuts and legumes such as almonds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and lentils are good sources of fibre, essential fatty acids, vitamin E, protein and minerals, which make them excellent foods to eat while doing a detox cleanse.

9. Green tea

Two to three cups of green tea daily can help to fight bacteria and contribute to weight loss. Green tea also has antioxidants, which deter free radicals that damage cell protein.

10. Beetroot

These are loaded with vitamins and minerals and are powerful blood purifiers. In addition to aiding with constipation, ulcers and anaemia, beetroot also helps to stimulate the enzymes in the liver. It can be juiced or boiled, but regardless of how it is prepared, it is a good choice for detoxification.
